About Shanice Hendrix
Founder of Empower SPED
Mother. Advocate. Changemaker.
“Don’t give up. You’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure this out on your own.”
— Shanice Hendrix
This Started as a Fight for My Son. Now It’s a Movement for Every Child.
I didn’t begin this journey as an expert—I started as a mother fighting to be heard.
When my son began struggling in school, I knew he needed more support than the system was prepared to offer. I sat in meeting after meeting, facing resistance, confusion, and overwhelming emotions. I had no choice but to become the advocate he needed.
That fight led me to secure a non-public placement, something that completely changed the trajectory of his education—and our lives.
It also lit a fire in me.
I’m Not Just Here to Help—I'm Here Because I’ve Lived It.
I created Empower SPED for families like mine.
For parents who are exhausted but determined.
For children who deserve more than just accommodations—they deserve advocacy that works.
My lived experience, combined with ongoing professional training and advocacy work, allows me to guide families with both compassion and clarity. I understand the laws, the loopholes, and the emotions that come with this journey. More importantly, I know how to move things forward.
